The cat is basically trained and will use a regular toilet but only when I am in there at the same time. She will even jump up on the toilet on her own but
if I am not there, she will go behind the toilet. I have tried enzymatic cleaner but no success. If I take the cat to the toilet at say double the frequency you take out a dog then there are no accidents. Problem is that I have to play her hide and seek game in order to find her and put her in the bathroom every time which gets really old. Any suggestions?? Congrats on getting your cat almost trained
All I can say is that you have to keep your cat from having accidents as long as you can, one accident can set you back for a long time - even if the cat has just one opportunity to use the floor that is enough to make them think they can get away with it and they will keep trying. The first 6 months to a year is the most crucial time after training and if you can keep the cat away from accidents that long the habit should be ingrained... Also make sure your cat is not constipated in any way (toilet trained cats get easily constipated), what do you feed your cat? |
