Total opposite !! poos in LK always, but pees on floor

My Russian blue has had no problems at all pooing in the LK, however pees he feels are better for corners of the bathroom or any other corner in the house.
I reverted back a disc or two (as i got the intermediates as well) but with no change to this behavior:confused.
In the end i changed to the solid disc which he will poo all day every day in & if we're lucky an odd pee, but generally the pees are always puddled in the corner.
Finally we decided we'd been beaten & put the old litter tray out that he's used from birth & he looked at us with some what a smile & jumped in for a pee !!
Its now 3 days in on the old litter tray & all is clean in the house.
Any ideas for trying the LK again or do we just live with the litter tray that in his case Works ??
