Default Green Stage, Poos on Floor Only When Ring is Dirty

    Hello,

My cat is very finicky but somehow she made it to the green stage. We've been training her for probably 3 years now and she's been at the green stage for a few months I believe.

Our issue is that she can only go 1 or 2 when there is litter in the ring. Usually this is not an issue since I check all the time to make sure that it is full, but recently we changed her diet to include more wet food. As a result, she's peeing more.

She'll pee in the toilet fine, but she'll then want to poo soon after. She'll jump on the toilet and notice that the litter is missing from her earlier pee and then she'll go poo by the basement door. She doesn't poo anywhere else except that spot.

I've tried enzyme cleaners before but it doesn't seem to work since that area seems safe to her. Even if I do get the area clean, it doesn't solve the issue that she doesn't seem to want to go in the toilet if there is a lack of litter in the ring.

Any suggestions on how to get her to go if there's not much litter in the ring?

I used silicon to glue som litter on the tray and put some loose litter on top so there always were some litter there. Hopefully it will work for you also
