Hi:
Before ordering the Litter Quitter I placed my cat's litter box next to the toilet, then raised it every few days until it was on top of the toilet lit. Thus, he had no problem using the red tray. I soon switched to the amber, and then the green. At no point would the cat put his paws on the seat, he sits sideways with paws in the litter and does his business on the other side of the tray. He is now on the green tray, and same result. He sometimes urinates thru the hole, and on the tray at the same time. He never defecates thru the hole. How am I to convince him to use the hole. He scratches to the bottom of the tray each time he uses it. |

There are a couple different techniques you can try since your cat does not want to use the hole in the Litter Kwitter. What worked best for me was putting the toilet seat down over the amber stage. Since it covered part of the litter area, it was harder for my cats to sit entirely on the litter and thus they learned to go facing outward.
Since you're already on green, I'm not sure how well that would go over with your cat -- it may cover too much of the litter. You can try gently nudging his bottom and/or moving his feet once he's "passed the point of no return." Some cats really don't like being touched, though, so good luck!! |

I have been lucky in that Gizmo is very comfortable with myself or my partner interferring when she's on the toilet. So we kept adjusting her and eventually she got it, even on Amber she'll get the hole 9/10 for both.
If your cat isn't comfortable with interference then maybe you could perhaps only use treats when the positioning is closer to what is requried? Just a thought, I haven't tried it myself. |

If your cat doesn't mind being moved while on the tray, you could try that. Otherwise try treating him when he is positioned correctly.
