Two and a half weeks ago, one of my cats fell off the rim of the litter kwitter onto the floor right in the middle of doing his #2 - needless to say - he refuses to use the LK up on the toilet for #2 now (I have reverted to putting it on the floor with the red disc in) and even though he does still use the green disc up on the toilet for #1 ... it takes several visits, with numerous attempts during each visit, before he actually succeeds with #1. Perhaps your cat has slipped or even fallen off too and he has lost confidence for this reason? The white rim is quite smooth with rounded outside edges and it appears to be quite easy to slip off, particularly when balancing on the rim crouched up on all 4 legs in the #2 position! We started with the LK back on 23 December, and I don't think the prospects are looking very good at all at the moment - I came very close to reverting back to ordinarly litter for him after his fall. Two and a halfs weeks on, after persisting with the LK I don't see any improvement whatsoever with his confidence in the LK after his fall. Very disappointing ... |

7 weeks after the pooaccidents we did following: we used THIS troubleshooting advice: http://nadyawin.dunkelmeerkampagne.d...leshooting.doc We put plastic bottles filled with water on the floor, so our cats wont find a comfortable place on the floor near the toilet to make their buisness. We went back to amber stage with a plastic bag below, making it a slit. We enlarged the slit in ca 4 weeks so that we had the "native" amber disk. So far we had no accident. So we went let our cats ca 3 weeks on the native amber disc. Plastic bottles all over the bathroom. They never pooed or peed on the floor. Last week we exchange the amber disc with the green one. BUT we put a plastic bag below again, with a hole only as big as the hole on the amber disc. Our cats were kinda perplex but after 2 days of holding bag, they didnt find another place suitable to em and finally made it into the toilet. Pee and poo, everthing right in the middle of the hole. After 1 week on that post-amberstage with a green disk, but only a hole as big as the one from amber stage, we had NO accidents. The bottles are still there and I think they will stay there until they finally made it to final and are used to use the toilet without the LK at all. I rather have 2 cats, taking month after month to succeed than hurrying things up and failing, being frustrated. I dont care if it takes me even one year, since after red stage, I start to save litter plus the poo went mostly into the toilet. Making cleaning up easier than before! To everyone out there... patience is the key... |

I've just spent a fair amount of time reading threads here - and my confidence is restored. Young Pippin (14mth Domestic Short Hair according to the Vet, moggy according to me!) saw me putting the LK on the toilet straight from the box and jumped up for a look! So I immediately put a handful of litter on it (red disc of course) and he used the thing - brilliant I thought. Next time he used the floor... OK thinks I, back to the instructions and red disc on the floor. All goes well, some 'accidents', lots of fuss and praise and treats - I use some liver jerky marketed for dogs, Pip loves it. My previous Vet gave it to cats after treatment so I just followed her lead. Then things went bad. Only the floor was good enough again. At least always around the toilet. So back on the floor went the LK. After a while, back up onto the toilet and all was good so I tried the orange insert. Very interesting said Pip. head and shoulders through the hole, very interesting. But back onto the floor immediately for both urinating and defecating. Grrrr. OK, back to the red disc. All good (the occasional mistake) for two more weeks - now back to using the floor every time. So. From my reading today I'm going to search for a different cleaner to use and start all over again. My behaviour was seemingly that suggested in that I gave praise and fuss and treat for success and the cold shoulder when the floor had been used. Pip is usually sitting watching me as I clean the floor! One thing, for Pip the toilet MUST be clean. He won't use the same litter twice, and hasn't since he was a kitten. At least I'm only working short casual hours now so am home most of the time to clean up - and I always put him on the LK immediately after I've cleaned it, to show him that it's usable again. I'll keep in touch. |

Well, after a couple of bad days, I tried the Cold SHoulder treatment for when I found TWO puddles next to the toilet. Did the CS ever freak out Pip!!! He pulled every "look-how-cute-I-am" trick he could think of. Even sat on my usual chair when I was about to have dinner - so I sat on another chair. He absolutely hated the treatment. It would have been over an hour before I reacted normally to him.
Since then? Well. How about the next three times he wanted to go, he called me upstairs to his toilet! Jumping up when I arrived on the scene. Since then, he's been extremely good - now to see if he can keep it up! He playes up to the 'good-boy' fuss I give him, loves the dried liver (dog) treats he gets, and is being very atentive. I would never have dreamed how much the CS would effect him. So we continue, and I'm waiting a good 3 or 4 weeks before attempting the change to orange. I was unable to find the famous Bio-Zapp in supermarkets here in the east of Melbourne, but did get it from Bunnings, in the paint area. [/img][/i]

Hello, Imported Admin and others who posted -
I'm new to the forum and am using the amber disk, now, for my 2 girls. I'm stalking the forums to learn from other LK users, and found your post. (You're a star - you have more peeks than anyone!) If you're still checking in occasionally, I'm wondering if you'd be so kind as to tell us the rest of the story. |
