Talking Three cats, Two days, Amber stage

Well, my friends and boyfriend thought I was crazy when I decided to start training my cats. They said it couldn't be done.

I started on December 11th 2009. I came home from work; set up the LK with the red disk on the floor next to the toilet and cleaned out and put away the two litter boxes they have been using. I have three cats- Chloe (14 year old medium haired tabby), Mac (18 month old orange tabby), and Zoe (20 month old hairless sphynx ). I should say that part of the reason everyone doubted I could pull this off is because I am A) attempting to train three cats at once using only one LK and B) Chloe is no spring chicken at 14 years old. But she is in good health besides maybe a little arthritis and probably bad vision.

I bribed them all to follow me into the bathroom with treats (they go crazy for the Greenies cat treats. Usually I use them sparingly but they have had their fill and them some this weekend!). I made sure each cat stood on the LK sitting next to the toilet and gave them treats and praises after.
Low and behold a couple of hours later one by one they all pee'd and poo'd on the LK. I made sure that after one of the cats used the LK I gave them a treat of two then praised them with petting.

So, since all the cats had used the LK while it was on the floor next to the toilet I thought it might be ok to step it up a notch. So I put the LK on the toilet (still red stage) and repeated the same treat bribery as I did before.
Saturday morning I went to check the LK and they had left me surprises! I rewarded them all (yep... treat overdose) and cleaned up. They did well... only a little bit of pee dripped on the floor.

By about 1 or 2pm on Saturday I had verified that all three cats had used LK, had not gone anywhere else in the house, and didn't seem stressed or skittish.
So, I figured I would test out the Amber ring. Now I know what your probably thinking... "She's crazy. Just give those poor cats a break!". But the video did say to move at the pace of the slowest cat... which for me is Chloe. Since she is moving along brilliantly... why not try the next stage? Worst case scenario is that they don't like it/refuse to use it and I go back to red stage and allow them more time.

Soooo, that being my mind set I put in the amber ring. I again did the bribery introduction... my cat Mac was fascinated with the hole... the other two not so much.

Well, before I went to bed Saturday night all three (even Chloe!!) cats had used the toilet without issue! Right now they are not making it in the hole but that is aok with me!!! They have done great! I am going to wait a little longer before moving into the green stage (I might attempt green next weekend). Thank you Litter Kwitter!!!!
