My cats tried to eat the foil so I taped it to the floor...But what worked better for us were using non slip tape on the floor, cats hate the texture - it feels like sandpaper...

Do you think that would damage my carpet?

First thing I had to do was get rid of all carpet and bath mats in the bathroom, as it was too tempting for him....I even had to "lock" the towels into the towel rail as he strongly preferred anything material to scratch on and do his business (i still have to keep my towels securely fastened, cos every now and then he will try it on!!)
Re the foil. What I used to do was screw the foil up first, and then spread it out flat...he HATED the texture of it.
