Pees in hole and poops in the floor.

I'm on the Amber stage and have been for a very long time.
My cat does great when peeing and goes in the hole everytime,
but when it comes to pooping he goes in the floor.
I've started to put objects in the floor where he was going,
and it worked for a short period of time.
Then he would just start moving over and go right beside the objects.
The crazy thing is that he jumps up and scratches in the litter and jumps down and goes in the floor.
