When it comes to cats, it would seem that they are
in the
domestic animal minority in Hollywood. Dogs far
outnumber the
feline numbers.
But that’s just because cats know how to give
their owners the
spotlight as they slink into the shadows for a nap.
Plus many felines just don’t like to pose
for the camera or walk
down the red carpet, when the couch is just fine,
thank you
very much.
Or be embarrassed with those silly little outfits.
So let’s start a roll call of the celebrities
that are admitting to
loving their cats.
Rapper Snoop Doggy Dog (funny enough) is the proud
owner of two Siamese kittens who he says remind
him of his younger days. When he was growing up
in Long Beach, he used to see alley cats, now constant
memories as his two little ones run around with
the, um, dog.
His two little kittens are named from artists Miles
Davis and Frank Sinatra.
We wonder if they’ve influenced his music
in some way? Not ure in what way…Snoop Dog
and ‘old blue eyes’ just don’t
seem to have a lot in common.
Maybe this is an indication of a new ‘Dog’
in town?
The beautiful couple of actress Cameron Diaz and
N’Sync band member and solo artist Justin
Timberlake are also cat aficionados. Diaz is said
to have dogs as well (quelle horreur), but has also
been seen out and about looking for cat clothing
as well. Little Man is the little cat of her life.
For the ‘big’ man in Cameron’s
life, felines seems to fit the bill. Mr. Timberlake
is also the proud owner of the Trousersnake. Wonder
if they named their cats at the same time, oh my.
Not that anyone’s reading into that.
My
my my..
And just to keep everyone from asking, no, Paris
Hilton does not own a cat. At least not yet. Or
maybe she did, and she got rid of it as quickly
as she did Tinkerbell.
Now you see it, now you don’t. Wait, Tinkerbell’s
back again. For now.
But that’s not all for the celebrities with
cats.
The list also includes comedian Billy Crystal, Spiderman
actress Kirsten Dunst, Tonight Show host Jay Leno,
actress Christina Ricci, and talk show host Leeza
Gibbons.
Well known singer Lisa Loeb of “Stay”
from Reality Bites fame is the proud owner of feline
Chin Chi.
Ex-Dracula actor Gary Oldman has a little kitten
by the name of Soymilk, but he calls him Mook for
short. Does this mean that the cat is vegan?
We love the nickname.
Not sure if Tori Spelling still has her cats after
the pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick told her that
Tori’s dog hates the cats because they’re
mean and don’t smell very good.
Apparently the dog doesn’t have very good
taste.
We think Tori should dump the dog.
Or the psychic.
Singer and actress Mandy Moore’s two cats
are the love of her life, as well as her Yorkshire
terriers.
But she’s a real diehard animal lover, so
let’s forgive her for sharing her love between
cats and dogs.
Then there’s the animal lover and rights activist
Betty White from Golden Girls fame. Don’t
worry, her cat isn’t named St. Olaf.
There’s also actress Ann Margaret, Yoko Ono,
actress and Broadway star Bernadette Peters, actor
Robert Wagner, actress Stephanie Powers, talk show
host Sally Jessie Raphael, actress Vivica A. Fox,
O.J. Simpson, singer Cyndi Lauper, and Wheel of
Fortune’s Vanna White.
But this list just doesn’t seem long enough.
Are celebrities hiding their cats?
It seems that the only cats that are talked about
anymore are the ones that Bob Barker is reminding
everyone to spay or neuter. Cats don’t deserve
that kind of treatment.
And they’re not going to take it anymore.
Sorry, got a little carried away.
Are celebrities embarrassed by their cats? I think
not. Stand up for your purring compadre!
